Take a few deep cleansing breaths. Go outside and stand on the grass barefoot. Feel the blades tickling your feet. Feel the solidity of the earth beneath you. Close your eyes and feel the energy emanating from the center of the earth traveling up toward the surface toward you. Feel the vibrations as they enter your feet and feel the strength and peace this energy is offering you. Let it flow throughout your body and feel the subtle connection that gently intensifies the longer you stand where you are. Know that this is the vital energy of the Earth acknowledging and embracing your presence. Feel the healing and love that flows through and around you, and when you end this exercise, know that these vibrations remain a part of your being and strive to share them with those around you. Namaste!

As spiritual beings encased in physical bodies, we walk, work, rest, love on a small planet third from the sun in a solar system existing as a part of a universe we cannot fathom and which, at present, we are unable to physically visit. Our bodies are sustained by the generous gifts of water, air, and foods that the Earth provides us. Like a benevolent Mother, she tends to us in many ways, some of which are often hidden from our awareness. Her trees share messages of wisdom culled from ancient experiences. Her rocks and crystals show us how it is to live vibrantly in a seemingly static form. Her rivers, lakes, and oceans not only provide the necessary water we drink, but they move our thoughts from the mundane and bathe our minds with cleansing movement, removing our angst and bringing us peace as we watch them ebb and flow around us, reminding us of our own ebbs and flows. Mother Earth, too, is part of the spiritual as well as physical reality in which we live. I remember as a child lying on the grass in my backyard and looking up at the clouds floating overhead on a blue ocean of sky. I would press my back into the Earth and feel the vibrations reaching up and surrounding me, cradling me as I lay there feeling the Earth thrumming with life and love. I would close my eyes and could almost sense the movement of the planet within the great sea of the universe. Now, many years later, I sometimes walk around and become aware of these same sensations. But now, I am also keenly aware of the relationship we have with Mother Earth and the need to protect her as much as she protects us. We have made great strides in recent years of cleaning the pollution we, as inhabitants of this wondrous planet, created by our presence here. In a time when there is talk of reverting back to practices that threatened our eco-systems and, thus, our very beings, we need to become ever more vigilant of our individual responsibilities for maintaining the planet as pollutant free as possible for our own survival. We can each do our part by, for example, recycling, reusing, and repurposing what we use. We can make sure our legislators hear our voices demanding a clean environment in which to live. Just as Mother Earth strives to nurture us, we need to gratefully receive that nurturing and act as responsible stewards of our planet. So long as we continue to incarnate here, we must strive to ensure that the physical bodies we inhabit live in awareness of the interconnectedness of all things and live accordingly with empathy, compassion, light, and love. Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” When we do not give thought to our lives and the impulses we are following, we find ourselves swirling in an eddy of self-doubt and lack of self-knowledge. We allow shallow impulses to guide us rather than seeking the higher source of light and love. When we wallow in the darkness and abandon the hope that can sustain us through difficult times, we lose our way and purpose. We doubt the earth beneath our feet and the nature of the sky above. We do not have to allow the darkness of others to encroach on our lives. We can seek to live in and of the light. Examine your life with an open mind and an eager heart and you will awaken to the answers you seek. Namaste! I am in the process of editing my book TSUNAMI OF LIGHT and came across this passage, which I thought might be of use right now. "Across the universe the Creative Spirit smiled. She knew it was as she envisioned and also that it was but a momentary respite, a lull in the battle that had begun in that first spark when darkness personified to challenge the light. This was the lesson she had created as the first lesson—light needed to recognize its power and regain and retain sovereignty to eventually, in time that was eternal, eradicate the darkness that, she knew, would never win, but would always serve as a challenge in order that good would learn the full extent of its power for love."
I wrote this blog posting several weeks ago. I have delayed posting it as each new challenge was raised and my resolve to overtly counter darkness with light wavered at times. The purpose of this blog is, in part, to inspire and uplift through a mindful awareness of Spirit. We are living in a strange moment, but we must always remember we are spiritual beings having a physical experience and, as such, whatever is happening now to this country and the world is a part of a learning process that stretches into the far reaches of time. In that awareness, I vow to raise my voice to counter the darkness. Here is that blog post:
Donald Trump is a gift from the universe. Yes! A gift! Maybe even a blessing! Because he has so stirred up the melting pot that is the U.S. and the world around us that the only response we can possibly have is to increase our mindfulness; to practice kindness, compassion, and empathy; to heal and love each other; and to spread the Light that we are, to meld together our individual sparks into a great fire of peace and inclusion. We are One! We have always been One! And we will always be One! And even our real motto, E Pluribus Unum, out of the many, One, declares this. Yes, you have a choice to work in the darkness that is epitomized and personified as Donald Trump, or you can join the revolution of spiritual evolution, by living and loving in and of the Light! Namaste! A new year? Every day is the beginning of another year! July 1 of one year will start the spin to July 1 the next year! Every day is a day for examining our lives. Do we like the direction our lives are taking? Are we happy with our relationships, our work, our living space? Do we feel drawn to make improvements to these, or change these up entirely? Is it time to rethink our beliefs and the direction of our dreams? Are we growing spiritually toward being the best self we can be? Is our health optimal or are there changes we need to make in order to be strong and healthy for the next steps on our life path. And where is that life path taking us? Do we need to add knowledge or develop a finer vision? Are we daring to live the life we see when we close our eyes and imagine our happiest moments yet to come? Are we examining our place in the universe and how we can add to the positive and subtract from the negative in our world and from those around us? Are we looking at each other as spirits, all in this as one, trying to create the best situation for all? Are we removing pain and hurt where we see it? Are we opening our hearts to give and accept healing, peace, light, and love? As we venture into this new year, let us spend a little time each day examining our lives and being aware of those around us, our fellow spirits, living and learning together. Namaste!
Out of the darkness, we welcome the return of the sun. The celestial wheel has turned once again and we are walking our path in ever increasing light. In this light is the essence of our being, we are formed of light and to light we always return. This is the light of this world and the other planes through which we travel. This is the light that radiates even now as our essential beings travel sustained through the energy of love. Namaste!
