The arts heal, both the creator and the one experiencing the creation. And right now, I think you will agree we all need some healing. Creating moves you from your normal state of being and helps you enter a space that is filled with an energy that heals—body, mind, and spirit. It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive. Paper and pen or crayons are a good start. I recently decided to explore watercolor painting. I have always wanted to learn how to make this sort of art and now I plan to move into time every week when I can practice using color in a new-to-me manner of exploration and experience. It doesn’t have to fulfill some idea of “fine art.” It simply needs to be an expression of a vision that is unique to you. Feel yourself embraced by the energy that begins to flow through you, creating a space through which you can step away from the mundane and into a suspended moment in time where you can discern the energy of your spirit guiding you as you create. The energy you are feeling is the love energy through which the Creative Spirit brought everything into being. That is the energy you also tap into when you create.
Daily writing connects you to your inner self and the universal energy of love. Through both, you can find what you already know and what you need to learn—what the universe can share with you when you are open enough to ask and prepared enough to receive. And then, you listen with the ears of the heart and accept the answers through writing. Write a word, a sentence, a poem, an essay, a book! Writing is sacred and necessary in the way that breathing is. Inspire. Breathe. Be. Through writing we access our essence, our essential energy, and follow that to find blissful awareness and connection to the universe. Writing helps us to discover what we are thinking, what our spirit is thinking, what the universe is thinking. Just listen, and write!
