Natural disasters and manmade tragedies occur to impel us towards compassion and empathy. What happens to one, happens to us all. No matter the distance between the event and the witnesses, all are affected. Each disaster, each tragedy is part of a larger dynamic, the purpose of which is to learn. It is not comfortable to say this world is an illusion, that this plane of reality is an illusion, but the reality is the continuity of the spirit, and no matter the outcome of any event, the spirit remains intact and part of the whole. If we fill our world with hate, we feed the energy of hate and separation. If we fill the world with love, we feed the energy of love and community. Disasters and tragedies occur, seemingly with greater frequency the more we speak of and practice negative ideas. Each event that brings pain and sorrow to others challenges us to practice compassion, empathy, love, and generosity. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list.

One may acknowledge the river, its rocks and slippery moss, its current at times rapid and at other times calm, but one must learn to safely enter and cross the river in order to gain the knowledge of how to safely do so, and gain the experience of reaching the other side. It is the overcoming of the physical constraints of the body that is the primary motivation of the incarnate spirit—those who recognize this need to reach beyond self to those who are not aware of the reality of their physical/spiritual existence and help them realize their purpose and connection with the whole. It is appropriate to acknowledge that for incarnate beings there exists physical separation, but it is imperative to reach beyond this illusion. Although we appear as disparate creatures, the purpose of being here is to overcome appearances and bring everyone into community. The desire of the spirit to communicate its unique vision of the world, indeed, its intuitive acknowledgment of various levels of reality attached to this physical world gives the arts their breath—the creative act is like breathing out a tone . . . the breath supports the sound, an expression from deep within the spirit, expressing itself via the physical vehicle in which it finds itself. All acts of creation exist as a continuation of and are informed by the original act of creation when the Creative Spirit breathed into existence the many-colored chord that is the tangible and intangible universe, all vibrating in a perpetually growing harmony. In the still of the stillest nights, we can hear the sound of the universe—the “music of the spheres” it is sometimes called—echoing that first sound and expanding and embellishing it. The arts allow us to touch the Creative Spirit and celebrate that our oneness springs forth from that first and ever expanding first creative moment. One of the reasons we are here on this physical plane is to experience and gain the lessons that come from being separated from each other. As harsh as this may sound, the truth is that when we are on the spirit plane as spirit, we are always connected in the energy and there is no barrier between us. Because the energy we are and in which we exist there flows within the same rate of vibration as that of love and peace, there are no interpersonal challenges that would initiate growth. In order to deepen our appreciation of this, and to learn how to deepen our commitment to the whole, and thus continue to attain a higher state of being, we decided to take on the challenge of relating to each other while in physical form. On this physical plane we have to overcome that difficult separation by learning how to overcome the physical barrier in order to connect our spirits through empathy, kindness, compassion, and love. Because vital energy is able to flow within an individual and between individuals, it is possible to gather together and share this flow of energy and utilize it for the welfare of the individual, those gathered, the larger community, the planet, and/or the universe. This would be akin to healing circles and/or prayer circles, or any grouping the purpose of which is to focus on a positive outcome. This is not dependent on religious affiliation or orientation. The energy itself has no denomination, but exists to be utilized, for example, to heal, send love, and work for peace. Through meditation and the act of common purpose, two or more people can combine their vital energies by focusing on their intent and sending this (via the same energy) to the person or people in need of help. This technique can also be used between or among the people working in this manner to clear negative energy or build positive energy towards a common goal. For example, two or more people can sit quietly, eyes closed, focus on the vital energy individually, and allow the energy to flow between or into the center of the group. Having previously determined the purpose and intent for the gathering, the energy so accumulated can be sent to the person or those in need, or be utilized by the group itself. It is also possible to gather the energy and send it out globally for world peace, healing, or love. Although it would seem such a small group would not proportionately be able to bring about such a large change, remember that this sort of energy is believed to have the power to move mountains. This vital energy is known by many names, including Qi, Chi, and Prana. This energy, which is of and holds your spirit, flows through your body, emanating around the body as light and color. This light-energy surrounding the body is called the aura or, around the head, it is sometimes called a halo. The energy remains in and attached to the body while it is alive, and continues to exist after that which is termed “death” but is, in reality, a transition, from spirit in the body to spirit without a body, neither superior to the other in and of itself. The energy that is the spirit and holds the spirit can be seen under certain circumstances and by those whose gifted or developed talent it is to discern such energy. You can experiment with and verify the existence of this energy by performing a simple exercise. Hold your hands several inches apart in front of the area between your heart and solar plexus. Try not to let your breath flow between your hands. Close your eyes and visualize energy flowing from the palm of each hand towards the other hand. As the energy meets in the middle between your hands, you will begin to feel a warmth building and a slight vibration or tingling in each hand. Slowly move your hands apart. The energy will continue to reach between your hands as the warmth increases. If this were simply the heat of your hands, the warmth should lessen as you move your hands apart, but instead you will find that it simply becomes warmer and warmer. This is the vital energy flowing between your hands, the same energy that flows within you and from you towards the energies emanating from those around you. It is the omniscient and omnipresent energy of the universe. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. In addition to the individual spirit and the community of spirit, there is an energy that permeates the universe in all of its dimensions, on all of its planes. This energy connects you, body and spirit, to everything and everyone in all times and in all spaces. From the smallest nanoparticle to the universe itself, everything contains this energy and is held within this energy. It is the energy in your cells, in your spirit, in the moon, and in the tides. It is the energy of the original spark spreading out from the one source, binding everything to it as part of itself. That which is the essence and the substance of the stars is this energy and includes us . . . we are like small stars in the physical plane on the planet earth. When we reach across and through this energy towards each other with love, compassion, empathy, and kindness, we honor the creative force and recognize ourselves, each other, and our oneness with all. All is one . . . Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. We have been discussing spirit, but what is the nature of spirit? What do we mean when we reference the spirit? It is the essence of who we are, and it remains who we are whether we are spirit within a physical body or not. Now, there are many spiritual planes and dimensions, just as there are many physical planes across the universe, but the being that is spirit remains the same on and within all of these. The essence that is you is a spirit that always has and always will exist. It is indestructible and over space and time (in reality, here and now) it maintains strong relationships with other spirits. How can you discern the nature of your spirit? How can you acknowledge your existence as spirit in a physical form? Look at the sunrise . . . do you feel the quickening in your core? It is your spirit reaching towards the miracle of another day, a new day to learn and grow in this physical-plane school. Listen to a soaring piece of music, look at a piece of art that captures your eyes and does not let go, read words that resonate within your heart . . . in the space where the energy of expression and the energy of perception meet is where the spirit dwells when in the body. And, when you happen upon another spirit with which your spirit is familiar, there is a recognition of knowing. When we are able to acknowledge the spirit in another, we do so with an awareness signified by that same subtle creative love-based energy. The earth-based physical plane is but one of a multitude of physical planes spread out throughout the universe. The earth plane is perceived through the five senses and interpreted through the physical brain, which processes the information, resulting in the belief that one has seen, for example, the color blue. The fact that two people can see the same wavelength considered “blue,” and yet perceive different tonalities, is a suggestion of the difficulty of relying on physical perception to reliably apprehend the physical world. The limitations are unlimited. Adding the intuition removes the reliance solely on the physical senses and the brain, and allows for a more immediate knowledge of both the physical world and the spiritual world that imbues it. If we metaphorically say that the heart, for example, is the repository of the intuitive sense, then when we perceive, using the earlier example, the color blue, we are perceiving the spiritual vibration of that tonality, imbued, as it is with a spiritual essence vibrating at the rate of light-filled love. Therefore, when two people utilize intuition to perceive the color blue, they can be confident that they are having a shared experience. Utilizing the intuition of the heart, we can confidently perceive the truth in our spiritual equality, resulting in a recognition of our intertwined relationship on this plane, and the reality of other spiritual beings inhabiting the non-physical planes. It is then we honor the spirit of another and of ourselves. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. In this vast universe there are many suns and moons, stars and planets. But there is only one you, a singular expression of the oneness we are. As such, each of us is a flame and each flame is part of a larger, vibrant fire of love and creativity. In this communal light, we share love and healing, passion and compassion, knowing and understanding. We celebrate your experience as a spirit living here and now, in this physical expression in this space and time. We exist not in some distant place, but beside you, walking with you on this path and in this light. It is a very thin space between us, the thickness of a fine veil. When we reach towards each other through this space, the universe celebrates the unity of creation. And, when you doubt the truth of your true self, we will send our love and light to sustain and fortify you. We celebrate the spirit that is within you.
