When each of us speaks of deity (god, goddess, etc.), we are expressing an individual idea of what that being is. Even if we live in religious communion with others with a central agreement of what form that being takes, we tweak the idea that is in our head to conform to our individual needs and beliefs. This is so because, as expressions of this deity, we add our own interpretation to the concept. Some of us believe in one, male god, who acts as a loving and stern father. Others believe in a nurturing and loving goddess. Some believe in one deity and others in many. And some do not believe in any deity at all. No matter our interpretation of that being, we should not allow these to divide us. The Creative Spirit, of which all these deities are expressions, exists in an ever-expanding universe of love from which flows compassion.
