Many have died defending or imposing the dogma of religion. When humankind believes it has a dictate to impose one set of beliefs on others, the natural progression of the world stops in horror that anything mistakenly named love could be nourished by cruelty and intolerance. It is rare for anyone to sacrifice their life or take the life of another in defense of the rain or the flower nourished by it or the rainbow spanning the sky. Nature is evidence of a larger force that asks us to live in peace and wonder. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. (Art by Joy Argento)

Our lives unfold according to the map we created before our current incarnation. We arrive at points along our path that provide challenges we must meet in order to learn the lessons these contain. Learning to love unconditionally, to be patient when needs are not met instantly, to be kind in the face of intolerance, to be compassionate when passions run too high—the moments in our lives that challenge us help us to inform our soul, which is sustained within the Creative Spirit. As we travel through our life, we cannot place blame on others for what we created for ourselves. We weave our own story within the interdependent web. When we constantly want what we do not actually need, we find ourselves surrounded by things more than by those we love and who love us. When we start to pare away the extraneous and unneeded aspects of our lives, be these physical, mental, or emotional, we find that we are filled with a sense of completion more satisfying than any we previously had. To allow the energy of love to fill us with joy and happiness is an essential spiritual lesson of this physical existence. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. We seek for “more” in hopes of finding that one thing that will give us a sense of complete satisfaction and happiness, yet once we find it, we are on to wanting the next thing, again searching for a sense of fullness. When we stop and really look at what is important to us, our wants diminish and we find we need less than we thought to make us happy. Then the sunrise fills us more fully than the newest technological purchase. When we are grateful for the gifts of the spirit, we are impelled to share these through compassion, empathy, kindness, and love. As we sit in quiet anticipation, we can discern the voices of our loved ones as they reach toward us with compassion and kindness. They know the illusion of endings. They know that everything is continually connected to the next. They know, truly, that there is no death and there are no dead. They recognize that, even without a physical form, they continue to exist and thrive and, most importantly, love. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. (Art by Joy Argento) At once, we are both students and masters. The student within each of us yearns for answers that have existed since we first manifested in physical form. Acknowledging that there is a finitude to our physical form compels us to ask why we are here at all, what the purpose is of this brief experience on this plane. When we see or experience suffering, for example, the student asks why such trials exist. The master within each of us knows that this world continues to be an illusion in which we exist for the educating of our spirit. The master sits in silence, awaiting the questions that elicit the answers the student already knows. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. (Art by Joy Argento) Our physical self seeks empirical evidence of existence. We test, try, assess whatever crosses our path or which we find in pursuit of further experience. From a walk down the street to parachuting from a plane, from eating an apple to painting one, from experiencing the pleasures of physical contact with another to seeking solitude in mindful meditation, we are impelled to test the boundaries of the cellular structure that houses our spirit. On the other hand, our spirit self experiences a constant essential awareness of the totality of that which is contained within the Creative Spirit. When our minds merge the knowledge of the spirit with that of the physical, we begin to comprehend our purpose in this incarnation. (Art by Joy Argento) While our perceptions are limited by the physical nature of our five senses, when we open the ears and eyes of the heart, we are able to discern a larger reality of which we are an integral part. On the physical plane, our spirit yearns to smell, taste, touch, see, and hear the essence of all that surrounds us in this dimension. This yearning invites us to seek a closer, more intimate relationship with those items that call to us . . . the aroma of a rose, the sound of a bird, the soft grass beneath our feet, the tart sweetness of an apple. When we mindfully interact with the physical world, we can touch its essence, which exists within the Creative Spirit. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. (Art by Joy Argento) The impulse to join one’s spirit to the All is a natural one that surpasses any other impetus to seek connection with another. Oftentimes, we do not recognize this impulse, believing instead that we are suffering from a loneliness that can be relieved only by bonding with other physically bounded spirits. Indeed, this connection is an important one, relying on the pathways between individuals, but the call to join in mystical communion with the Creative Spirit comes from the heart as it seeks to connect with that which is at once its creator, its creation, and its home. When we allow our spirit to reach toward the One, we are promised an open door and a loving embrace. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. (Art by Joy Argento) The mystical experience is at the same time supremely personal and also extremely communal, as the incarnate individual’s spirit attains oneness with the Creative Spirit within which all beings and things exist. This heightened sense of connection has been sought after in many ways, including through the use of mind-altering substances, but the mystical experience is open to anyone who simply slides their consciousness to the side so that unfiltered communion with the All may take place. How to accomplish this mystical moment? Breathe in mindful awareness and let go of self in the moment between breaths. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list.
