It is said that the journey is as important as the destination. When we only focus on the end result and not on the steps to reach that result, we miss all the lessons and beauty that populate our path. When we rush headlong into the future, without regard to where we have come from and where we are now, we miss the important moments that provide the meaning and fulfillment in our lives. When we stop to smell each rose, admire its beauty and learn from its dual nature, we gain the lessons we are seeking, and give thanks. Too often we half hear the sounds around us, believing we have heard correctly when in fact we have missed the intended meaning. The margin for error in truly hearing is great and thus, too, is the margin for error not only in understanding but in reacting to the limited information we have perceived. Should we be following the directions given to us without examining them closely? Are we being led down a questionable path because we are not correctly hearing the words and meanings of friends or government leaders? Are we mistakenly jumping to the wrong conclusion because we simply are not listening closely enough to the information we are being given? When we listen with the ears of the heart, we can hear the truth behind any utterance, and give thanks. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. Are we treating the world with too critical an eye and are we in need of broadening our experiences so that we may freshly perceive all that this life has to offer? Are we judging others in ways we would not wish to be judged? Are we making snap rather than thoughtful decisions about world events and the people that are populating the planet around us? When we clean the lenses of the eyes of the heart, we enjoy clear vision, and give thanks. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. When we move from one school to another, one house or city to another, when we clear the clutter and welcome a new flow of energy through our space, we most likely experience a small amount of fear, but, more so, we enjoy the newness of the next step on our earth-based path. When we face the transition to the other side of the veil, we can also experience fear of leaving the old and embrace the new adventure on the other side. When we release the fear of change, and peacefully and joyfully embrace the result of change, we can pause and give thanks. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. In the silence, as we open the ears of our heart, we can hear the music of the spheres singing to us, sending us messages of a love that is greater than love. These messages ask us to bear witness to the miracle of the moment, existing in timeless wonder, bringing into sync the internal/external eternal Is. When we become still in the deep silence, we bear witness to our place in the universe and give thanks. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. (Art by Joy Argento) On that cool, crisp day in autumn when the morning dew reveals itself as frost, we recognize that summer has spent its last rays of warmth and it is time to prepare for the time of dormancy in preparation of rebirth. The veil that had thinned a week ago begins to return to normal, and yet spirit continues to reach out to us in love, offering comfort and hope as we examine our own cycles of life. Those on the other side of the veil know that we live in the illusion of linear life. They understand the illusion of that which is known as death. The transition between seasons echoes the transitions we encounter in physical life. We embrace and fear the illusion of change, yet in all nows and all heres, we are blessed, and give thanks. We know in these magical moments that there is a larger purpose for our being, for the grass that grows, for the stars that shine in the dark sky, for the food we eat, for those we love. When we pay attention to that which informs and sustains us, we are acknowledging that which is greater than we are and at the same time is that of which we are integral parts. Then, we may stand in awe and wonder that any of this exists at this moment in the illusion of time and give thanks. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. (Art by Joy Argento) Preparing for the changing of the seasons can be arduous and time consuming. Whether we are preparing for winter or spring, there is always much to do. Just as the gardens must be prepared to wake or to sleep, we, too, need to adjust ourselves to a change in weather and the temperament of the earth. In the spring we become attuned to the seemingly urgent need to create and to bloom. In the winter, we feel the quieting of the world around us and find ourselves needing to establish our own quiet times in which to contemplate the cycle of transitions known as birth and death. When we allow ourselves to acknowledge the changing of the seasons, we can readily become at one with this miracle and give thanks. As your eyes adjust to the darkness, more and more stars will appear until the heavens are full and bright with points of light. As you continue to stand there, drinking in this brilliance with your physical eyes, open the eyes of your heart. Feel the energy of the stars connecting with your own energy. Open yourself to the miracle of the moment—you and the stars are connected by the energy flowing between you and them. Know you are one with the stars and give thanks. (Art by Joy Argento) As we begin a month of examining and expressing our gratitude, we may first be thankful for the loving presence of spirits, both incarnate and discarnate in our lives. As we celebrate this day commonly referred to as All Souls Day, we can rest assured that we are essential spirits, as real and eternal as the Creative Spirit that brought us into consciousness and who nurtures and protects us as we traverse our paths on both sides of the veil. When we are feeling most alone, we can lean into this welcoming spirit and be reminded that we are always and forever bonded to the All that is ever connected to us. When we know we are essential spirits, we know that all things are possible and give thanks. Namaste! https://www.tobiehewitt.com/contact.html to join my mailing list. (Art by Joy Argento) |
